There’s something magical about bluebell season in Mid Wales. For just a few fleeting weeks each spring, ancient woodlands are transformed into glowing carpets of violet-blue, filling the air with birdsong and the scent of wild garlic. Across Mid Wales and Bannau Brycheiniog, some of the country’s most beautiful forests burst into bloom, and many are still wonderfully quiet compared to the better-known UK bluebell wood hotspots.

1. Hafren Forest, Powys

Tucked deep within the Cambrian Mountains, Hafren Forest is one of Mid Wales’ most enchanting bluebell woodland walks.
